Maintaining a new habit

tips on sustainability

Consistency

All big things come from small beginnings. The seed of every habit is a single, tiny decision.

James Clear, author of Atomic Habits

It has been about 5 weeks since I started my weekly newsletter. I am proud to say I started, and that I am still writing today.

But, today, I don’t feel motivated to write. So how do I push through?

I acknowledge that I’m not going to want to write every week, but more often than not, when I do, I really enjoy it. I also remind myself why I started.

Also, I am accountable to myself. I feel good and accomplished when I do what I say I will do. I also try give myself some grace when I fall short.

Lastly, the number of subscribers nor the quality of my writing is as important to me as the fact that that I am simply writing.

It’s ultimately a habit I’m building for me!

And when we build habits or do something new, it can be challenging. But this discomfort I feel is a sign of my growth! (Reframe)

Tips on Sustainability

  1. Set reasonable goals.

  2. Keep it simple.

  3. Be proud of what you have been able to do.

    a. The results are not as important as the doing!

  4. Even if you take a break, start again.

  5. If it truly is important to you, you will.

If you’ve been consistently keeping up with all my newsletter, thank you for making it a part of your weekly routine!
